Product Overview

The YYP-015 Paper and Cardboard Water Absorption Testing Equipment is engineered to determine the water absorption rate of packaging materials. It delivers the essential parameters and design requirements specified in GB/T 1540-2002 Determination of Water Absorption of Paper and Cardboard (Cobb Method), a standard applicable to measuring the surface water absorption of various papers and cardboards. This method is not intended for the precise evaluation of the writing performance of paper or board.

Working Principle

The instrument measures the surface water absorption capacity of paper and cardboard, expressed as the Cobb value (C): the quantity of water absorbed per unit area of paper or cardboard under a specified pressure and temperature within a defined time, measured in g/m². The calculation formula is as follows:

C = (G2 − G1) × 100

C — Cobb water absorption value
G2 — Sample mass after water absorption
G1 — Sample mass before water absorption

This water absorption tester is a conventional instrument for surface water absorption testing of paper and cardboard. It is also referred to as a paper surface water absorption weight tester, and because it adopts the Cobb test method, it is commonly known as a Cobb absorption tester.
